BBaG

Another idea is a jacket that works as a small backpack to allow packing small items very quickly at the supermarket cashier (!). The user doesn’t need to take away the jacket to packing the items. Here in Plymouth it would be very useful for me (!)…

GreenGlo

Last week I was watching the BBC series ‘Design for Life’ – the Philippe Starck’s School of Design. … and started drawing some ideas on my sketchbook…
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00mx9y1

The first idea is a glove made of neoprene and Scotch-Brite greener clean natural fiber (like a cover that could be changed several times) to do the dishes without using conventional scrubbers. Having the hands protected it’s possible, for instance, to avoid the use of hot water in the winter times. The glove was conceived to be a sustainable alternative that allows more precision, safety and efficiency to do the dishes.

UnderGrad

Two weeks ago I used this sketch to explain all the things I was doing since under grad... from the Tunnel (that was quite an organic train cabin) with three mixed reality environments inside (my final undergrad project), to my master theses on Complexity and Design Processes in Architecture and to the PhD research on Visual Arts, using systemic measures of complexity and organization to study mixed reality interactive digital art installations. Everything to find ways to think about Architecture more as a system than an object... focusing on interactions, trans-actions, and not on the materiality... at this moment I realized I’m still finishing my undergrad project… or...1970s is here and now...

Multi-Touch Interaction Research + Touchlib

Multi-Touch Interaction Research
While touch sensing is commonplace for single points of contact, multi-touch sensing enables a user to interact with a system with more than one finger at a time, as in chording and bi-manual operations. Such sensing devices are inherently also able to accommodate multiple users simultaneously, which is especially useful for larger interaction scenarios such as interactive walls and tabletops.

Touchlib is our library for creating multi-touch interaction surfaces. It handles tracking blobs of infrared light for you and sends your programs multitouch events, such as 'finger down', 'finger moved', and 'finger released'. It includes a configuration app and a few demos to get you started. It interaces with most major types of webcams and video capture devices. It currently works only under windows but efforts are being made to port it to other platforms.

openframeworks: codeblocks / C++

http://www.openframeworks.cc/setup/codeblocks

Code::Blocks setup guide
We like codeblocks for windows development since it’s light weight, and avoids some of the quirkiness of windows visual studio. here’s a step by step tutorial to get up and running.

a) download code::blocks binary (latest release)
Download Code::Blocks note: download WITH mingw.

instants instants and instants or the eye+

P. Virilio, O Espaço Crítico (p.48-49) talks about space, the velocity of the light, the eye that is at the same time eye and site, instants / C. Lispector, Água Viva (p.13) instants of metamorphosis (p.13)... today? 13/10... at the I-DAT, talking about space, the trans-actor immersed in the immaterial space of the digital art installation I’m thinking about... immaterial connections... messages from dimensions we can't see, that are immaterial... these are instants of metamorphosis... maybe the Guinness I drank at the pub a few minutes ago(!)
