Lorenz 84 attractor

The Lorenz Attractor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenz_attractor) represents the state of a fluid that's heated from beneath and circulates as hot rises and cold sinks. X represents rotation speed (and direction), Y represents one side being hotter than the other (the hotter side pushes upwards), and Z is the total ammount of energy in the system (or some other characteristic which relates to that ¬¬).

Control panel opens on a new window, the three sliders on the top control the system. The interesting one is 'rho', it's the ammount you heat the bottom. For low values, the system tends to balance itself, either spinning left or right. For high values, it never settles, randomly changing its direction.

what the hell???

eMotion is a tool for creating interactive motions of objects for live visual performances. Electronic motion seems often artificial, synthetic... well... in fact it does not convey any emotions. By defining new rules to create movements, eMotion is a new kind of software made for visual live animations.
As it is based on real world physics law, all motions seems natural, full of emphasis.
It allows to manipulate different kind of objects like still image, videos, text, drawing. Targeted mainly for theatre/dance performances, it can be used in broader situations.

some references//

I'm working this week with some friends in Brazil (Renata La Rocca, Graziele Lautenschlaeger e Fernando Pimentel) in a first materialization of an installation converging the two main references I’m working with – Borges’s A Bao a Qu and Clarice Lispector’s The Stream of Life. The idea is to have a dark room with a spiraling stair in the center projected onto the ground which one the person will imaginarily climb. Some exerts of the Clarice’s book will be written onto the walls of this imaginary room like memories of one who was in there. Accompanying the never-ending process of climbing the stair into this room, a video projected onto the ground follows the movements of the one who climbs.
Here some work references/ inspirations:
